Planning for Newborn Session

Preparing for a photography session could be somewhat nerve-racking! Specially when it comes to your newborn child!

Therefore, below I provide some tips on how to better prepare for your Newborn Session. Please do not hesitate to ask questions!!! The more questions you ask the better you will feel about the shoot and the smoother it will go.

I cannot stress enough how important to make sure Newborn Sessions are scheduled in advanced and between 4-6 weeks old. This allows for the baby to be more sleepy and comfortable during our session.

Please read my suggestions below and I truly hope this helps ease some stress when booking your Newborn Session. It is all about having a good time and capturing those one in a lifetime memory for you and your family.

How to Prepare:

- All newborn sessions will be at a studio setting.
- Book your session around your baby's feeding and nap times, work with the natural rhythm of your baby. The perfect time to shoot is right when the baby would be laying down for a nap. If your baby normally falls asleep after a feeding, wait to feed the baby until you're at the shoot. Your session is 3-4 hours long, take your time and lets not rush. It is key to make the baby comfortable and sleepy for a great photos.
- What to wear...nothing usually fits newborn perfectly. They are often too big or they look swallowed in clothes. I recommend accessories: little hats, headbands, crocheted hats for boys. I have several so please make sure to ask before purchasing.
- If your baby take a pacifier, bring it. Also if they are bottle feed bring a back up to help baby sleep.
- If family pictures will follow the newborn session, please set up a different time. An entire family at the studio while trying to put a baby to sleep can be very distracting. It is best that the mother and the baby come first to the newborn session and the family can arrive after the session is complete. However, if it just father and mother both are ok to come to the newborn session.
